Growth in Commercial Vehicle Registrations Amid Overall Decline in Kazakhstan’s Automotive Market
2025-11-03 14:53
According to the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, 91,304 vehicles were registered in September 2025 — 54.1% of the level recorded in September 2024. Despite the overall market decline, truck and bus categories demonstrated positive dynamics, reflecting sustained demand for commercial vehicles and the continued development of transport infrastructure.
In September, 8,839 trucks were registered, or 75.2% of the previous year’s figure. Some regions even recorded growth:
Karaganda region — 383 trucks (110.1% compared to September 2024);
Pavlodar region — 306 (141.0%);
Almaty — 1,111 trucks (113.3% of last year’s level).
These indicators suggest rising demand among businesses and logistics companies for fleet renewal and expansion, despite the general economic slowdown.
The bus category showed steady growth, with 1,814 units registered in September — 109.2% compared to the same period last year.
The largest increases were recorded in:
Karaganda region — 145 buses (176.8% year-on-year);
Almaty — 555 buses (284.6%);
Ulytau region — 39 buses (354.5%).
This growth indicates active modernization of public transport fleets and increased investment in passenger transportation, particularly at the regional level.
While registrations of passenger cars declined (78,040 units, 51.8% of the September 2024 level), the simultaneous rise in truck and bus registrations points to structural changes in Kazakhstan’s transport market.
The growing interest in commercial vehicles highlights the strengthening position of logistics, construction, and passenger transport sectors.
These trends confirm that the commercial transport segment remains a driver of business activity and a key area of automotive industry development.
