Kazakhstan’s truck market is showing significant growth. From January to May 2026, 56,600 trucks were sold in the country, which is 5.3 times more than during the same period last year. Sales in just the first five months have already exceeded the figure recorded in any previous full year.
For comparison, the previous record was set in 2023, when 35,800 trucks were sold on the domestic market. Sales declined to 28,200 vehicles in 2024, before growing by 7.8% in 2025 to reach 30,400 units.
Imports Drive Market Growth
The sharp increase in imports has been the main factor behind the market’s growth. During the first five months of 2026, Kazakhstan imported 54,400 trucks, which is 6.5 times more than in the same period of 2025.
At the same time, domestic production declined by 13.1%, from 2,800 to 2,400 trucks. As a result, the share of Kazakh manufacturers in meeting market demand, including domestic sales and exports, fell from 24.9% to 4.2%.
The situation was different in 2025. Domestic truck production increased by 10.5% to 8,500 units, while imports grew by 5.8% to 22,700 vehicles.
Compared with 2015, Kazakhstan’s domestic truck production has increased approximately fivefold over the past decade, from 1,700 to 8,500 units. Imports have also nearly doubled during the same period.
Truck Exports Decline
Despite strong domestic market growth, truck exports from Kazakhstan remain relatively limited. From January to May 2026, 255 trucks were exported from the country, 39.6% fewer than during the same period a year earlier.
In 2025, exports amounted to 841 trucks. The highest figure was recorded in 2023, when around 2,100 trucks were exported.
Overall, Kazakhstan’s truck market in 2026 is growing primarily due to imported vehicles. At the same time, the strong domestic demand indicates that businesses and transport operators are increasingly looking to renew and expand their fleets.
