Kazakhstan plans to allocate KZT 1.98 trillion to the development of the transport sector in 2026–2028. According to Inbusiness.kz, the funding is outlined in the draft budget of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2026, KZT 868.3 billion is allocated to the transport sector. A significant share of the funding will go toward the development of transport corridors, construction and reconstruction of highways, modernization of border infrastructure, and renewal of passenger transport.
KZT 491.3 billion is planned for transport corridors, while another KZT 365.7 billion will be allocated to transport infrastructure. In particular, KZT 263.1 billion is earmarked for the construction and reconstruction of roads. Key projects include the Karaganda–Zhezkazgan and Aktobe–Ulgaiysyn–Kyzylorda highways, as well as bypass roads around Saryagash, Kyzylorda and Rudny.
Major urban transport projects will also continue. KZT 66.7 billion is proposed for the construction of the LRT in Astana, while KZT 20.6 billion is planned for the Almaty Metro. In addition, KZT 116.7 billion is expected to be allocated for the construction and reconstruction of 37 border crossing points.
